SonServera ’ s Pine Trap goes one better – or two better – with five holes instead of three . These five holes are set in the mountain area of the course – although it is not steep – and set an entirely different pace to the rest of the course . Flanks of towering pine trees squeeze in and make accuracy absolutely essential . Bunkering is limited to one or two per hole but with those tree-lined corridors you simply don ’ t need the sand as a hazard . There is , however , a lake … which butts up to the par-3 3rd green and then presents a serious challenge on the dogleg par-4 7th ( Index 3 ). The 5th is a par-5 ( 506 metres from the back tee ) curving endlessly to the right and it is Index 1 . At least on holes 4 and 6 you can see the flag … scant comfort when you find that these two short par fours are Index 7 and 5 respectively .
Are these the hardest five holes on Mallorca ? Most likely , and that ’ s even after the club took out some trees to make it fairer . One final note on The Pine Trap : the scorecard singles out these five holes ( a par of 20 ) so you can challenge yourself or have a mini-competition with your friends on who tackles it most successfully . Elsewhere , the course is more open , generous ( fairways have been widened recently ) and playable for golfers of all abilities . These holes are more exposed to the sea breezes but with those wider fairways and well maintained rough you are unlikely to lose your ball . And they do offer those sea views as you weave your way towards some small greens .
A buggy isn ’ t necessary although the endless sunshine ( 300 days a year ) and temperatures ( up to 30C in summer ) might convince you otherwise . What you will definitely be convinced of is the quality and the adventure the course offers . Son Servera is a par 72 , evenly balanced with two nines of 36 , and it measures 6,050 / 5,756 / 5,309 / 4,862 metres . The golf club works with 70 hotels as well as international Tour operators and online platforms to create good value packages for visiting golfers . The practice area has been refurbished and equipped with spotlights while the restaurant remains a popular destination in its own right , with views over the 18th hole and the sea .
