DESTINATION GOLF SCOTLAND 2025 2026

Nairn Dunbar

Lying just to the east of its championship neighbour, Nairn Dunbar is over 100 years old. It is a links lying slightly inland from the sea with fairways channelled by gorse as well as pine and birch. These give holes their structure but they can’ t hide the course’ s links roots. Certainly, the low, twisting terrain embraces traditional Scottish links and let’ s not forget the pot bunkers, several of which are new. Even so, the small woods promise sweet hole shapes and added colour, with a burn often coming in to play. There are some lovely characteristics: a lateral spine runs through the 4th green; and natural ridges create blind or semi-blind approach shots, with the par five 18th promising a sticky end. Holes 9 to 11 were recently renovated to enhance their links characteristics but Nairn Dunbar packs in a lot of fun, whichever hole you’ re on.
