Lisbon Sports Club
Lisbon Sports Club dates back to 1880, when a group of English residents living in the Lisbon area founded a Sports Club. By 1890 they had built a small six-hole golf course in Alges. In 1962, the Club moved to Casal de Carregueira, where it remains today, about 20km from Cascais and Lisbon. The Martin Hawtree-designed course began with nine holes, with five more holes added a few years later and, finally, in 1992, its 18 holes were completed. The 5,278 metre par-69 layout means it is a playable course for all, with narrow fairways sweeping between beautiful old trees and abundant vegetation, which ensure holes blend perfectly into the natural surroundings. The comfortable clubhouse has a veranda overlooking the magnificent woodland that is home to this course.
