Welcome to Portugal in 2016
I’d like to welcome UK & Irish
golfers to Portugal in 2016
First, I would like to thank Destination Golf Media for
publishing Destination Golf Portugal magazine once
again. I see it as great importance for promoting golf
tourism to Portugal.
Nature has blessed Portugal with over 3,000 hours of
sun per year and over 850 kilometres of coastline. There
are numerous white sandy beaches for holiday makers
that want to relax on holidays.
As sunshine and mild weather make Algarve and Lisbon
all year round destinations, Portugal also has more
to offer in other less known regions like Alentejo,
Center of Portugal and Porto & Northern Portugal.
Alentejo is situated between the Algarve and Lisbon
which is accessible via direct flights from Ireland to
both Faro and Lisbon airports. Center Portugal can
be reached from both Lisbon and Porto airports and
Porto & Northern Portugal with direct flights between
all airports with Dublin. The vibrant towns are full of
culture, quality restaurants and bars where you can try
some local delicacies. If you are looking for something
different from your holiday to Portugal, why not explore
our Nature Parks and outdoor activities or experience
the warmth of the local people in our historic villages,
which are among the country’s best kept secrets.
Portugal has around eighty golf courses, with different
layouts and levels of difficulty. The greatest challenge
is to resist the beauty of the surroundings and remain
focused. Many of our excellence and internationally
awarded courses were designed by famous architects,
and they all share environmental quality and
harmoniously blend into the landscape.
If one word could sum up a visit to Portugal, it would
be romance. Because wherever you stay in the country,
you’ll be sure to enjoy a truly romantic stay.
Welcome to Portugal and all it has to offer.
