The Delta flights provided the least amount of interaction and contact as possible to ensure safety , Dylan said . “ It definitely felt like they were doing the most they could to make sure the plane was clean .” Passengers and crew kept their masks on , the middle seats were empty , hand sanitizer was given upon boarding and instead of a rolling cart offering snacks and drinks , pre-packed goody bags were provided .
Once they landed in Jamaica , Amber and Dylan were quarantined at the resort and signed a waiver provided by Jamaican authorities . Choosing an all-inclusive proved auspicious — there was no need to venture far . Their temperatures were taken at the hotel and each room was left empty for two days between guest stays . They were reassured by the fact that guards kept watch over the beaches , seeing to it that social distancing was adhered to .
“ We missed out on a few things like ziplining but it was just really nice . We worked so hard the last two years to make all this happen so it was relaxing to just be at the beach and lay out and soak up all that Jamaican sun and not have to worry about anything ,” Amber said .
A break from the stress was much needed , and the fact that the beaches were nearly empty provided a sense of peace . “ We probably would have kept postponing the way that everything is still looking so I ’ m glad we decided to go as planned ,” Dylan said . “ I ’ m thankful we didn ’ t have to keep postponing because I can only imagine what everyone else in this position is going through .” ■
