“ When COVID happened , the expertise of a travel advisor proved more essential than ever .”
These college sweethearts from Fort Wayne , Indiana had been planning their July 2020 wedding for two years , and they couldn ’ t fathom waiting any longer . So , in spite of all uncertainty , Amber and Dylan proceeded with their wedding and honeymoon as planned , albeit on a smaller scale than originally anticipated .
“ COVID definitely impacted our wedding and honeymoon and made it more stressful because there was so much that was unknown ,” Amber said . Their wedding venue took all recommended precautions ; they added extra tables for social distancing so that six instead of nine people were seated at a table , set up hand sanitizer stations and had masked servers delivering food instead of the originally planned buffet .
When honeymoon time came around , Amber , a property manager and Dylan , a warehouse distribution team lead , were ready for an idyllic Jamaican escape . Their travel advisor , Beth , saw to it that their honeymoon to the all-inclusive Couples Swept Away resort in Negril went off without a hitch .
On choosing a travel advisor , Dylan said , “ We thought it would be a little bit easier since we ’ d never been outside of the U . S . to have somebody that knew some locations to go to and things to do .” When COVID happened , the expertise of a travel advisor proved more essential than ever .
“ Beth would call us every other week and let us know updates on COVID , what the situation was like where we were going , if they were still open and if any guidelines had changed ,” Dylan continued . The couple had contemplated changing their July 14-24 honeymoon dates but were happy in the end that they stuck with them , since travel restrictions to Jamaica were implemented a few days after their return home .
