Florals are going organic as couples connect their weddings to nature
By Erica Moody
Brides these days want their bouquets to feel very organic , almost like they ’ re picked from the field ,” e-commerce entrepreneur Cameron Hardesty tells us . “ Last year and earlier this year , brides were all about the big wide bouquet that was a dramatic statement but now we ’ re seeing brides ask for more toned-down bouquets .”
This is a result of COVID-19 ’ s influence on the bridal scene , Hardesty says .
“ People are asking for smaller bouquets and that definitely reflects the micro weddings happening right now . We ’ re seeing more outdoor weddings or at least some aspect of the wedding will be outdoors , even into November ,” she continues .
Hardesty ’ s company Poppy , which connects couples to floral experts for easy and affordable delivery , has seen that couples are willing to invest a little more in florals and décor at this time when they may be reducing costs in other areas such as food and venue . Flowers always make the photos pop and petite bouquets add a relaxed charm to intimate weddings .
With so many couples postponing their weddings , Hardesty foresees many venues booking up next year , and the outdoor wedding trend continuing because of it .
“ Couples are marrying in their backyard or a friend ’ s backyard . I think this will persist into 2021 because so many weddings are getting bumped to a later date and vendors will book up ,” Hardesty says . “ People will be turning to nontraditional venues .”
