With two growing children , Mandy and I found that we were quickly outgrowing our home . After successfully completing our first new build last summer ( a family cottage ), we decided to take a leap of faith and build a new family home that would accommodate our needs as our girls continued to grow ! Prior to starting our build journey , we visited our friends at Rona + to help make our dream home come to fruition . We had a great time consulting with the building experts at Rona + and shopping for all of our lumber materials for the building of our home . We really enjoyed how they were a one-stop shop for everything we needed from start to finish !
The construction of our home was a fun adventure but it ' s not all about the pretty finishes . We wanted to ensure we created a solid base so that our home would be something we could enjoy for many years ! This meant ensuring we used the best systems to keep our home working in good order . From design to conception , we worked with the best . Joe and his team from Access Framing lended their expertise in installing our AMVIC ICF blocks which were super easy to install and made the process go quicker than a traditional foundation installation . The team at McMunn & Yates provided concrete for our ICF blocks , garage pad and crawlspace as well .
We worked with Wolseley Canada on all of our plumbing and HVAC needs for the home , starting with all of our rough-in plumbing pipes , hot water tank and water softener , for a fully operational water and sewer system . Myles and the team at Air Master Mechanical installed the furnace , AC and HRV unit from Wolseley Mechanical . We chose the Lifebreath RNC155 HEAT RECOVERY VENTILATOR , the Stelpro SFEX energy efficient furnace to keep the house warm during cold winter months and a 2 ton AC unit to help cool down during hot summer days . Once the systems were in place , we added insulation from Olympic Building Centre , hung the drywall and it was time to start working on the pretty details !
