Architecture with a sense for the detail
Within the world of Danish design, architecture has always
played an important role. At one point, it was even common
for architects to not only design houses but also everything
inside them. By following this principle, many architects
also became designers of furniture, textiles and cutlery.
Anton Rosen did it, when he designed the Palads Hotel in
Copenhagen in 1909, and Arne Jacobsen did the same,
when he designed the SAS hotel in Copenhagen in 1960.
One of the best-known Danish-designed buildings is the
Opera House in Sydney, Australia. Architect Jorn Utzon
designed the opera house in 1973 and in 2005, the building
was declared a World Heritage Site.
