enmark might be a small country in terms of size but
when it comes to design and architecture, Denmark is
a leading nation. Since the 1940’s and 1950’s, Danish
design has been known and recognized all over the world
for its high quality, smooth lines and sophistication. Danish
design of furniture, fashion or architecture is characterized
by simplicity, functionality and timelessness. Some might
even add the word elegance. Trusteeship Council Chamber was in a close collaboration
between the UN and the Danish government completely
restored and updated with new furniture created by Danish
design duo Kasper Salto and Thomas Sigsgaard. Today, the
Trusteeship Council Chamber stands as a perfect example
of both the legacy and the future of Danish architecture
and design in one of the most iconic
buildings in New York.
Iconic designers of Danish design
The history of Danish design encompasses many unique
and innovative designers. Many have made their mark
internationally and helped shape the unique designs, Danes
proudly call Danish. Let us take quick look at some of the
most iconic. Moreover, Finn Juhl was especially
known for his impressive chairs.
However, he was not the only one
renowned for designing chairs. With
his modernist chairs named The
Finn Juhl, an architect, interior and industrial designer, was
the one who introduced modern Danish design to America
in the 1940’s. A great example of one of his tributes in
America is the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the UN,
