established a digital platform known as TradeLens, a block
chain-enabled shipping solution designed to promote more
efficient and secure global trade, bringing together various
parties to support information sharing and transparency,
and spur industry-wide innovation.
Danish maritime sector will create a new advisory public-
private partnership on digitalization, which is to work with
digital innovation, disruption and new business models and
establish Denmark as a leading marine test centre for new

Indo-Danish maritime relations – A promising future
Despite the slow growth in global trade, seaborne trade is
expected to rise in the forthcoming years. Asia being at the
center of global seaborne trade given that almost half of
the global volume of goods is loaded and unloaded in the
region, automatically becomes an important player. Now
within Asia, India is increasingly becoming the epicenter
for global economic activity, which includes the maritime
sector as more than 97% of India’s trade by volume and

players in highly specialized areas such as oil product
tankers, dry bulk carriers, containers and service vessels
for the offshore industry. Danish maritime manufacturers
are considered global frontrunners in areas such as ballast
water treatment systems and technologies that prevent air
pollution from ships.
