Habitat:
Widely distributed on moist sites from Alaska to Mexico. Elevation ranging from sea level to 9000 feet (Randall et al 1988).
An erect bush 3’ to 6’ high, with weak, cane like, unarmed stems. And simple palmately lobed leaves. Leaves deciduous, simple, broad, 3” to 8” in diameter; palmately 3 to 5 lobed and serrate; dark green and minutely hairy on both surfaces. Flowers white or pinkish white borne singularly or in clusters. Fruit re, flattened hemispherical drupelets. Stems light brown of grayish brown, cane like, weak and unarmed. Bark thin and papery, new stem green (Randall et al 1988).
