50,000 hotel beds, 50 nightclubs, 15 balnearios and six kilometres of beach – El Arenal in Mallorca is all of this. The former fishing village of only 40 inhabitants has been transformed into a tourist hotspot and is now in the process of repositioning itself with numerous hotel refurbishments and new hotels opening in the four and five-star sectors. Photography duo Oliver Kröning and Dennis Orel have put the holiday resort under the microscope and, long before the emergence of camera drones, have created a continuous, bird’ s eye view panorama of the famous stretch of beach composed of countless individual images. After featuring in a number of exhibitions and also receiving the Canon ProfiFoto Sponsoring Award, sixty of their beach photos have been published by av edition in a photo book under the title El Arenal, with texts in German and English.
