This is my last Newsletter as your president. Jacksonville Alumnae has an amazing
group of women. I made a promise on my campaign speech four years ago. Tenacious
Tutt Unifying Talents Taking JAC to the TOP. As a team we did just that! We won
several awards throughout my two terms. From the Chapter of the Year to the first and
second Dr. Paulette C. Walker award for social action, I am truly humbled to have been
your President and I am very thankful for the Leadership team that made this all
possible.
Congratulations to our:
Committee of the Year - Miss Delta Teen Pageant led by Sorors Michele Bell Badger &
Ingrid Bethel as I stated the hours of developing our sisters of tomorrow and they truly
had some work to do this year.
The time that it takes to pour into these young ladies
to produce the product that all of Jacksonville is still talking about.
Our Violet of the Year - You do not see this flower very much - a very humble spirit
but ask and you will receive. She has worked very hard in the background the whole
year. Providing support to our collegiate chapter at UNF getting them back on the yard
by ensuring the Minerva circle had a space to use. Then tenaciously working on our
grants. Especially our $10,000 grant from the city. Our Violet of the Year, Soror Cheresa
Boston.
A new award - Our Delta Dear of the Year - Another servant leader that has worked on
several committees throughout the year. As Delta Dears can and do, she will put you
on right track immediately. She has been a sounding-board for me throughout my over
20 years with JAC. Due to her management of our Delta Prescient for over 15 years,
our Delta Dear of the Year Soror Perselphone Coleman
Our Delta of the Year Has done it all - She has touched and worked with almost every
committee, She has kept us as a chapter out of trouble countless times and she has
been a very active member of JAC since she came here 15 years ago.
Serving as
chair on various committees over the years - every contract that is done thru this
chapter is done thru her. With no committee, she has also served since 2011 as our
Legal Review Chair. Soror Williams was my right hand she is my left. She is as I call
her “My Lawyer” our Delta of the Year, Soror Tasha Small.
I welcome and look forward to continuing my service to our new President Soror
Aurelia Ray Williams and her team. Congratulations to all!
