Sorors, “A nyone can become a Delta but not everyone can be a Delta,” words from our 25 th National President Dr. Paulette C. Walker at the 25 th Annual Florida Delta Days at the Capital. Another great quote… “Are you a real Delta or a perpetrator?” Those words I bring to you and ask the question of you. Are you REAL? We are the award-winning Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter but what part did you play? Are you a team player or a spectator wearing the symbols? Sorors we have work to do. A few years ago one of our past presidents of JAC asked what I wanted my legacy to be. I stated a social action president. I believe I have accomplished that; but what I see as a failure is that of the over 300 members of our chapter we have very few engaged in our sorority’s first action, “Social Action.” I hope and pray that we get all of you engaged. As you may know at the 25 th Annual Florida Delta Days at the Capital JAC won three of the five awards within the state. Our Social Action Chair, Soror Juliet Rogers and our Program and Planning Chair, Soror A. Jamila Pope worked together to ensure we had social action in every program. Which is why we won the Paulette C. Walker Chapter Social Action Chapter Award (again). The committees have worked hard with a few dedicated members, but we will need everyone to engage, especially in 2020! Congratulations to Soror Evelyn Ray Rogers, Soror Antoya Shuler as well as Soror Jovonnie Ford and Soror Ava Phoenix for the American Cancer Society 1 st place award at DDAC. Finally, kudos to our Miss Delta Teen Pageant committee. Even the pageant, themed “The Power of Pageantry” had a social action theme and the young ladies provided an entertaining and powerful program. JAC was indeed the talk of the town. Congratulations to our 2019 Miss Delta Teen Chaneese Nelson and her court 1 st Runner up Natalie Charles and 2 nd Runner up Essence Burton. Soror Michele Bell Badger, Soror Ingrid Bethel and the pageant committee truly gave their all to the young ladies and it was apparent by the love that was shared. See more on page ___ regarding the pageant. Sorors I ask the question again; are you real? If so, we need you on the front lines of the RED ARMY. 4
