A date with Delhi\\\'s Food\r\n\r\nBy Taniya Mittal\r\n\r\nThe food in Delhi is all about the choicest of the ingredients, the charm of variety of tastes, and the option to decide whether to tuck in the profusion of the mouth watering street foods or to elegantly visit a restaurant, sit, chat and enjoy a sumptuous meal. Delhi offers cuisines for people from all walk of life, this is the reason the capital has so many dishes to its credit.\r\nFirst things first!! The city of Delhi is celebrated round the country for introducing the dishes such as Papri chaat, Aaloo chaat, Bhelpuri and Gol gappe. All though one can find the exotic presence of these dishes in each and every part of the capital, but the most sought after place for such dishes is the Old Delhi, particularly Chandni Chowk. One gets an amazing experience as the papadi crackles beneath the teeth, the yogurt starts smudging with the lips and the green chutney which is added for garnishing sets you on fire. The taste is welcoming and makes you taste the flavour of the city.\r\nIn the event you desire of tasting the flavors of the Southern Indian dishes, the classical dishes namely masala dosa, idli, vada and sambhar are pervasive across the city. The dish has blended so much into the spirit of the city that it can be named as the national dish here. There is also the presence of good restaurants which only serve the quality South-Indian food. But mind it, these restaurants have long queues, so in case you want to get a splash of the dishes, start early.\r\nThe city is embellished with a number of sweet couplings, namely, jalebi, kulfi-faluda, gulab jamun, imarthi, motichoor laddoos, various types of barfi, karachi halwa and special puddings. The city certainly knows how to give a treat to its people as well as visitors. These sweet dishes, priced fairly are the perfect medium to pull a pun on your desi ways. The only factor which comes in mind, apart from the amazing taste which these dishes provide, is the calorie factor. Yes! The above mentioned dishes are a little higher in terms of calories, but their endurance can make you forget everything.\r\nThe city also offers a number of good options when it comes to the food joints serving the foreign cuisine such as Chinese, Italian and Mexican. The Chinese and Italian cuisines are particularly hit amongst the people of Delhi. There are regular visits made by any middle class family to indulge into the foreign servings. The ambience of these restaurants, the quality of the serving and the food quality has been just bingo. These restaurants have become a hot favourite place for the youngsters to hang out and enjoy a feast. \r\nThe culinary skills of the Delhi people are so high that each and every individual be it an Indian or a foreigner, sings the glory of the food.
