Delano Ducks Unlimited Ducks Unlimited ( DU ) is the world ’ s leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation .
DU got its start in 1937 during the Dust Bowl when North America ’ s drought-plagued waterfowl populations had plunged to unprecedented lows . Determined not to sit idly by as the continent ’ s waterfowl dwindled beyond recovery , a small group of sportsmen joined together to form an organization that became known as Ducks Unlimited . Its mission : habitat conservation .

Delano Farmers Market
The market is located on the corner of Highway 12 and County Line Road in the Flippin ’ Bills parking lot . It is open May through October , Wednesdays , from 2 to 6 p . m .
The Delano Farmers Market allows local farmers to bring the freshest locally-grown produce and other products . One may find fresh produce , breads , fruits , jams , honey , homemade pies , maple syrup , eggs , beef and chicken products , fresh salsa , fresh flowers , and handcrafted items . Watch for seasonal fruits and vegetables .
One booth is available for Delano non-profit organizations to raise awareness or money for their organization .

Delano Fourth of July Committee , Inc .
The purpose of the Delano Fourth of July Celebration Committee , Inc . is to organize Minnesota ’ s oldest and largest Fourth of July celebration , which is recognizing its 166th celebration in 2022 .
The celebration is planned by a planning committee , with 30 organizations represented , that meets in February , April , and June ; and an eightmember board that meets twice a month from January to July , and once a month the remainder of the year .
The event features the parade , baseball tournaments , men ’ s and women ’ s softball tournaments , bands for both young and old under the big top ( never a cover charge ), a family entertainment stage , kiddie parade , childrens ’ tractor pull , carnival , fireworks , and much more .

Delano-Franklin Township Area Historical Society
Established in 1999 to preserve the area ’ s rich history and educate the public , the Delano / Franklin Township Area Historical Society currently has 30 members which meet the last Monday of every month at 7 p . m . at the Delano Heritage Center ( old library ). The society also sponsors an event the first Saturday of each month at 10 a . m . at the Heritage Center or at Delano City Hall . These events are presentations on historic areas , buildings , organizations , or traditional skills . They are open to anyone interested in history .
Individuals may donate items to the museum and / or use the resources to learn about the history in the Delano area , or discover and work on their own family history .

Delano Helping Hands Food Shelf
Delano Helping Hands food shelf is located in the Delano Community Education building , 140 Elm Ave ., Delano . The food shelf was founded in 1985 , and it is supported entirely by volunteer efforts .
The food shelf is open for food distribution each Thursday from 2 to 4 p . m . and also every third Thursday from 5 to 7 p . m . The organization helps about 50 families on a monthly basis . Delano Helping Hands is a member of Second Harvest Heartland , a Minneapolis-St . Paul food bank that partners with organizations and volunteers to feed hungry people . Through this partnership , Delano Helping Hands is able to purchase food at a modest price and participate in food rescue programs with local businesses .
The food shelf relies on monetary and food donations for support . These donations come from individuals , area churches , businesses , and civic organizations throughout the community . Through these generous donations , the food shelf is able to continue to serve the hungry in our area . If anyone is interested in helping at the food shelf , call your local church .
