Wellbeing in winter
Although winter can be a time to snuggle up, get cosy, and enjoy all the festivities, for many it can be a difficult season due to a decrease in daylight and in temperature, increased pressure financially and socially, increased feelings of isolation, loneliness, and low mood or depression. It is important that we prioritise self-care through the winter months and make sure to look after both our physical health and our mental health. Below are some tips on how to look after your wellbeing this winter.
Keep moving- join a gym or fitness class, try yoga at home, or turn housework into a workout.
Get outside- spend some time in daylight, get some fresh air and enjoy being in nature to combat feelings of sluggishness.
Keep a balanced diet- keep yourself well nourished to help with energy levels, fight illness, and avoid comfort eating.
Practice self-care- take time for yourself, spend time relaxing and do things you enjoy to help boost your mood.
