Volleyball Update

Written by Mr Bryden
We have had over 30 senior pupils at Volleyball practice on a Thursday afternoon in recent week in preparation for taking part in the Ayrshire League for the first time in many years. They played their first competitive fixture this week against Stewarton Academy. The Girls were narrowly beaten 2 sets to 1 and the boys won an exciting game by the same scoreline.

Culzean Geography Trip
There was a school trip to Culzean for S3 Geography classes it happened over three days. They have done this for many years already and are hoping to continue going for S3 ' s in the future. They do this trip because in S3 they learn all about coastal erosion and how cliffs are formed / unformed. We also learned about the scenery and a bit of rock formation. As Culzean is next to the beach it is a perfect location to see coastal erosion in real life. The main locations the pupils visited was the beach, castle, swan pond, and Happy Bally. When the students went, they were given a worksheet to answer questions as they went around Culzean, At the end of the trip they got the afternoon to play at Culzean adventure playground. I asked one of the S3 ' s who went and this is what she had to say.
" It was a lot of fun and interesting to see it all in real life rather than looking at it from a screen in the classroom, I enjoyed playing at the park most though. It was a lot more enjoyable seeing it in real life and even though we got out of the classroom we were still learning about all the Coastal erosion etc. I highly recommend going for all the new S3 ' s next year as it ' s good to be out the classroom and a nice way to start finishing off the topic."
