Youth Council
Written by Itai Ben Horesh
Ever since the elections ran last year, Timur and I have been quietly attending meetings, both virtually and in person. Means to have wider public outreach on the events of the meetings are being discussed, but in the meantime, I ' ve created this article to really highlight what we ' ve done in the last meeting.
To recap, the youth council consists of two young people from each secondary school and some primary school children from selected schools, who meet to discuss and make decisions that impact every single child in South Ayrshire.
This mainly includes deciding what to do with our allocated £ 10,000 each year and meeting in sub-groups revolving around those.
For example, in the last in-person meeting in mid-September last month, we voted on the amount of money that will be allocated to each participating primary or secondary school in our ' Body Essentials ' scheme, which gives money for schools to provide free toiletries to their students.
Additionally, we were given a presentation on Thing Link and discussed any possible use of it in and around the Youth Council.
The next meeting will be in early December, which I ' ll cover in the next newsletter.
