Step 9
To finish off this bow, we’ ll add in the gold belt buckle. Roll out a small amount of your black fondant to roughly 3mm thick and use your larger square cutter to cut out a square. Press firmly and give the cutter a couple of twists against the board for a clean edge, before removing the fondant from the cutter. Then use your smaller square cutter to remove a square from the centre. Set the piece aside to dry.
Step 10 It’ s time to paint this belt buckle gold! In a small bowl, mix a little gold lustre dust with a splash of rose spirit to create a paint. You’ re aiming for a thick, paint-like consistency. If it’ s too clumpy, add more rose spirit to loosen up the mixture. If it’ s too runny, add more dust to thicken it up. Using a small brush, paint your buckle gold. You might need to add a second coat. The alcohol in the rose spirit will evaporate quickly, meaning it’ ll only take about a minute or two before the paint is dry and it’ s ready to be used.
