Joining one of these can have many benefits , such as learning new and exciting skills , and making new friends . In Troon and our surrounding areas , we have youth groups such as :
• Army Cadets
• Air Cadets
• Scouts / Explorers
• Boy ' s and Girl ' s brigade
Army Cadets The Army Cadet Force is a youth organisation , just like the Scouts or Boy ' s / Girl ' s Brigade , but with some differences .
Unlike other youth groups , the Army Cadets is structured , so when the time is right you can get promoted so you have the ability to lead and teach your fellow cadets .
The activities we do in the Army Cadets are quite similar to what the Army would do , but you do not have to join the army after you leave the cadet force . This includes :
• Skills at Arms – Shooting real British Army rifles .
• First Aid
• Navigation
• Drill We also have many activities and perks in the ACF , such as :
• Going to an annual Christmas dinner at the Piersland House
• Going to weekend camps where you can make friends from all over the west of Scotland and get better at the ACF ' s subjects .
• Drill and First Aid competitions where you can compete on a national level for our company / battalion .
• Completing the Duke of Edinburgh award bronze , silver , and gold within the cadets , making it easier to accomplish .
