What did you do musically through lockdown ? Did you release new music ?
I treated the lockdown as a much needed break and respite from my busy schedule . Currently , I am more focused on my teaching career , but that hasn ' t deterred me from penning down lyrics to new songs . I have also acquired new gear and have been experimenting with it in lockdown . I ' ve also done a few Insta Live sessions that were quite special . I believe it will all come together once I have the opportunity to make music with the entire band .
Challenges you faced when recording your songs / making new music
1 . Lack of access to instruments
2 . Difficulty collaborating with the whole band to work on new music
3 . Creative stagnation at times 4 . Cancelling shows and the uncertainty that surrounded future dates
How do you think the music scene can recover from the pandemic hit ?
1 . Venues need to organize gigs panning multiple genres to increase visibility for local artists before jumping the gun to feature an international artist once the situation is better .
2 . Relying more heavily on recorded music revenue .
3 . If there ' s something we can take away from this pandemic , it is that the music industry was almost the first to go out and it might be the last industry to get back on track , thus the music industry , the musical community and music as source of livelihood should be considered as equally
substantial and needs to stop being discounted .
What can we look forward to from you now ?
More music , more blues and renewed fervour .
What did you do musically through lockdown ? Did you release new music ?
I put out two singles and I ’ m releasing another one very soon . This is the freest that I ’ ve ever been and my music-making productivity has definitely improved .
Challenges you faced when recording your songs / making new music .
I ’ m lucky that my producer stays just a few minutes away from my place . So , I didn ’ t really face major issues while getting my music recorded .
How do you think the music scene can recover from the pandemic hit ?
I think it all starts with the audience and the public supporting upcoming artists because they ’ ve been hit the hardest . Once everything is over and safe ( still taking precautions ), go and attend local shows . Share the artist ’ s music , it ’ s so important to do that since it helps us in more ways than you can imagine .
What can we look forward to from you now ?
I ’ m releasing my sixth single in the next few weeks and I have more projects in the pipeline , let ’ s see how it all works out .
