Singer-Songwriter

HANITA BHAMBRI

What did you do musically through lockdown ? Did you release new music ?
Despite the overall anxiety about what ’ s happening in the world , I found myself to be more centered creatively . I wrote and released a lot of songs and the reason I was able to do this is because there was no pressure to do shows or tours or the million other things that tend to get in the way .
Challenges you faced when recording your songs / making new music
I think the real challenge was learning how to adapt . I didn ’ t think it was possible to record at home or work remotely with people but it was . I found myself way more relaxed between vocal takes cause there were no eyes watching me across the glass judging a bad vocal take . There was no ticking of the studio clock making me nervous about wasting time by taking a long break . So actually the challenges of lockdown helped to take some of this burden off me .
How do you think the music scene can recover from the pandemic hit ?
I think not only will it recover , but it will come back with thrice as much vigour as before . The reason is twofold : a ) Since Bollywood wasn ’ t releasing a lot of songs , indie music featured on the front and center slots on digital streaming platforms - which made a lot more people discover our music and become fans . b ) I see people buying tickets for Zoom or Instagram shows which only goes to show that once the vaccine is here and it ’ s safe - there would be huge crowds to watch the artists . There is no doubt . And artists are definitely the most resilient bunch .
What can we look forward to from you now ?
After releasing a lot of music , I ’ m taking a bit of a break for a couple of months to enjoy the holidays , breathe and take notice of all that I ’ ve achieved in a very short span . Once 2021 hits , be prepared for a whole lot more music , though .
