Singer-Composer-Producer

KARSH KALE

What did you do musically through lockdown ? Did you release new music ?
Like many musicians , I had all my gigs cancelled and all my travel plans postponed indefinitely . Naturally , I was quite anxious about how exactly I was going to survive .
Simultaneously though , I had won 5 awards over the course of the pandemic for the film score work I had done . Things like that kept hope alive even as I was floundering to figure the next step .
I decided to create a track called “ Across the Ocean “ which featured some amazing friends and collaborators who were all living in lockdown on different continents . I wound up releasing the track and a video in June and signed a production deal with a record label in the States called Ingrooves under Universal . I have since been working on 3 albums with material I will release in the coming year .
Challenges you faced when recording your songs / making new music
The challenges I face are the ones everyone faced which was simply the lack of human contact . Music , in its ideal form , is a collaborative art form so it becomes hard to work in such isolation .
How do you think the music scene can recover from the pandemic hit ?
The same way the rest of the world is going to recover . Every industry was destroyed by this pandemic but like any great fire , new things come to grow in its place . Hopefully , we can move forward having reflected upon what we may have been doing wrong prior to the destruction .
What can we look forward to from you now ?
TV show scores , Film Scores , 3 new albums and some interesting online shows . Until that is , we can get back to what we love most - gathering in personal for some real live concerts .
