The park district realized a significant accomplishment with the opening of the renovated Glenview Community Ice Center on September 12 . This a state-of-the-art facility provides aesthetic , economic and recreation benefits to our community and beyond . Despite many challenges , including COVID-19 , the project was finished on time and on budget . We are grateful for the community ’ s support every step of the way and the incredible partnerships that ensured the project ’ s ongoing success . In a first for the park district , we hosted a virtual ribbon-cutting celebration that was live streamed on social media . We are thrilled to have opened our doors safely , so skaters can enjoy the ice and building amenities .
I ’ ll leave you with a big THANK YOU for your commitment to keeping our community safe ! Please continue wearing a face covering in all our facilities and other public places . Keep at least six feet of physical distance between yourself and those not in your immediate family . Wash your hands frequently and stay home if you don ’ t feel well . The Board of Park Commissioners consists of seven elected members who serve unsalaried six-year terms . The board sets priorities and defines the policies for financing , governance , operation and administration of the district .
