General Meeting Minutes
Scholarship : Julie Gintner 3 scholarships were presented at Champ Show to Taylor Jutz ( Little Crow Riders ), Victoria Viteri ( Osakis Trailblazers ), and Myranda Griesert ( Elk River Saddle Club ). Julie will get the recipients thank yous and a photo to submit in the spotlight . Look for information on applying for 2024 scholarships in the spring . Dorene Maroquin ( Cannon Falls Ridge Riders ) would like to add that the rental for boxes in the Coliseum at champ show adds to the scholarship fund . Julie noted that majority of the judges donated their earnings from champ show towards scholarships , and the interest from CDs goes towards it as well . Julie said as long as you are attending school , you may keep applying if you have not received a scholarship .
Old Business :
Dustin Heck shared his experience for his family and daughter Zoey who competed for the first time , during the showcase of WSCA Champ Show ’ s adaptive riding classes . There was so much support , joy and comradery for all of the exhibitors . A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered . Dustin feels that sponsorship for these classes will be easy to get , and using the Compeer Arena is the perfect setting . Dorene Maroquin shared her and her daughter Alaina ’ s experience volunteering during the adaptive classes . Rachel Duenow was able to livestream the adaptive classes and it is on our Facebook page . Ann Goebel shared the results of the drawing for fundraising towards the Adaptive Riding classes . $ 144 raised just as WSCA members were attending this General Meeting .
New Business :
Steve Tibbets gave a huge thank you to Rachel Duenow for her continued effort and work for this Association and thank you for serving as Vice President .
President Lynn-Ellen St Martin presented a proposal for a Club Membership Dues Increase . It has been about 20 years since WSCA has raised its membership dues for clubs . It will be a $ 10 increase for 2024 and 2025 . Club dues would now be $ 80 per year and $ 85 for new clubs . Motion made by Roy Johnson ( Owatonna Saddle Club ) seconded by Paul Miller ( Boot Jack Saddle Club ) to raise club membership dues . Motion passed unanimously .
Champ Show Reimbursements / Refunds , total of $ 1,762.50 , all of which have met the vet / doctor note requirement . Looking for Board Approval of reimbursements . Motion made by Kevin Berger , seconded by Paul Hansen to approve 2023 Champ Show Reimbursements . Motion passed unanimously .
Volunteer of the Year award presented to Karen Whitaker , for all her work and time given to WSCA and Champ Show .
2023 High Points were presented .
Adjournment :
Motion made by Josh Tjosaas ( Minnesota Quarter Horse Assn . Inc ), seconded by Matt Gilbertson ( Northwest Saddle Club ) to adjourn the meeting at 4:40 PM . Motion carried unanimously .
