Experience : Three years ' work experience in the practice of civil , environmental or geotechnical engineering post Professional Engineer registration ; or seven years ' post baccalaureate experience in the practice of civil , environmental or geotechnical engineering .

Education : Possession of an Associate ' s degree from a recognized college or university , with a major study in civil , environmental or geotechnical technology .
Experience : Five years ' work experience in the practice of civil , environmental or geotechnical engineering post Professional Engineer registration ; or seven years ' post baccalaureate experience in the practice of civil , environmental or geotechnical engineering , plus two additional years ' experience in a position comparable to an Engineering Technician .
License / Certification : Must be a Registered Engineer in the State of New Hampshire or a Registered Engineer in another state and obtain registration in NH within one year of employment . Must be eligible to hold a New Hampshire driver ’ s license and have access to transportation for use in statewide travel .
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS : Position requires on-site presence and work at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites in accordance with the requirements mandated by federal and state regulations and the terms of State / EPA cooperative agreements . Therefore , as a condition of initial employment the job candidate must satisfactorily complete a baseline medical examination . Additionally , the incumbent must satisfy the Occupational Safety and Health Agency ’ s health and safety requirements for employees who work at hazardous waste sites including periodic medical monitoring and adherence with personal protection procedures .
Responsibilities :
Serves as Remedial Project Manager at Superfund sites , providing engineering , hydrogeological and other technical coordination between the public , State agencies , USEPA , and potentially responsible parties .
Organizes and prepares cooperative agreements with USEPA and contracts with professional consultants and contractors in order to implement Superfund programs within the state .
Assists in negotiations with professional consultants as to the approach , scope , and costs required to perform the technical studies and remedial actions required under the Superfund Program .
Organizes and supervises State oversight and support services personnel and contractor field activities to ensure all remedial efforts are documented and properly quality controlled in order to effectuate efficient and safe cleanup of hazardous waste sites .
Reviews , adjusts , and recommends payments of billings submitted by contracted consultants after determining compliance with contractual requirements ; public health and environmental impacts , and costs . Reports all financial activities to the USEPA .
Makes continuous and important contacts with Federal , State and local officials , contractors , industrial officials , environmental groups and the general public requiring explanation and interpretation of highly technical matters for the purpose of securing acceptance , cooperation and support for various hazardous waste investigations and remedial actions .
