Bill Schonely to be at book signing Legendary broadcaster Bill Schonely will be making an appearance at the Charbonneau Activity Center on Tuesday , Dec . 13 .
WINKLER Schonely , who called
Trail Blazers games for 30 years and worked for the NBA team for a half-century , will visit for a book-signing event from 3-4:30 p . m . Schonely , now 93 , lived in Charbonneau for 17 years and is looking forward to seeing some of his old friends and neighbors .
Charbonneau resident Kerry Eggers will also be on hand for the event . Eggers is the author of “ Wherever You May Be ... Now — the Bill Schonely Story ,” which was released on Nov . 8 . Copies of the book will be available for purchase for $ 25 .
There has been no more popular figure in Blazer history than “ The Schonz ,” who received the Curt Gowdy award for broadcasting excellence at the 2012 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Springfield , Mass . Schonely now lives at The Springs at Lake Oswego with his wife , Dottie .

Donate to families in need
Charbonneau Sharing is accepting toys , clothes and gift cards through Dec . 16 .
This holiday season will be an especially

challenging time for families in need . Each year Charbonneau residents have generously donated to Toy & Joy / Compassion in Action of Clackamas County . This year we are asking Charbonneau residents to donate new and unwrapped toys and clothing , and gift cards . You may drop the items off at the Activity Center reception desk . We will place them under the Christmas tree in the Activity Center library until it is time to deliver them to Toy & Joy / Compassion in Action of Clackamas County . The items will then be distributed to the children of Wilsonville families in need . We are collecting donations through Dec . 16 . Let ’ s help families in need provide a bit of happiness to the children this holiday season .
The Niners offer Christmas giftwrapping
The Charbonneau Ladies Niners Golf will be offering free Christmas gift-wrapping in the Event Center Dining Room beginning Dec . 13 . They have all the materials including fun children ’ s wrapping paper . They are even offering pick-up and delivery service of your gifts for Charbonneau residents . For details , dates and times please read Mary Fieweger ’ s article in this issue . ( And the ladies even promise not to tell anyone what ’ s in all those beautifully-wrapped packages !)
Karen Carpenter Christmas Tribute Concert in Charbonneau
Treat yourself to a festive holiday evening on Dec . 11 as the Karen Carpenter Tribute Band featuring vocalist Rebecca Hardiman presents the beloved Christmas songs from the popular Carpenters Christmas album , “ A Christmas Portrait ” as well as many of their beloved hits . The holiday season is upon us and this year the Event Center and Activity Center will be decorated at the end of November just in time for your family holiday get-togethers .
Looking ahead to 2023
BINGO - Play games , win prizes , have fun !
After a two-year pandemic hiatus , Charbonneau bingo will return on Tuesday , Jan . 24 , at 3 p . m . in the CCC Dining room . For a $ 20 donation ( that will go to the Wilsonville Food Bank ) you can play eight games . Bring your beverage of choice in addition to an appetizer to share with your table of Charbonneau friends . Be sure to get on the sign-up list now at the Activity Center reception desk .
New beginning ballroom dance for singles or couples
Join the incredible professionals from Oregon Dancesport , Mark , Haley , Drew , and Bannon , as they teach beginning ballroom dance every Thursday from 4:30- 5:30 p . m . This six-week introductory course will teach you the basics to dances like the Salsa , Cha Cha , Swing , Waltz , Tango and more ! With over 25 years ’ experience , the Oregon Dancesport professionals

make these classes easy to follow and fun for everyone . You do not need a partner or previous dance experience . The professionals will dance with the class participants . The introductory classes will be FREE for all Charbonneau residents . Classes begin Jan . 19 and will run for six weeks .
New strength and stretch classes with Jules Moody
In January we will be offering a strength and stretch class taught by Jules Moody . Strengthen and tone all muscle groups in this full body non-impact class . Jules will mix it up weekly using hand weights , bands , and the bar along with balance and core work . Modifications and varying weights are available ( 2-10 lbs ) so the class is suitable for all fitness levels as you progress . Half the class is standing and half is down on the mat . It is an encouraging atmosphere and a judgment free zone with fun music . Come do afternoon “ happy hour ” with Jules ! Classes begin Jan . 11 , on Wednesdays from 1:30- 2:30 p . m . and will run for six weeks . The cost is $ 45 or $ 10 for drop-in .
Refresh your driving skills
Take the AARP Smart Driver classroom course and you could save money on auto insurance . This two-day class will be held in February 2023 . Stay tuned !
Charbonneau office holiday closures
