Charbonneau residents Larry Baugh and John Brault are no stranger to food banks .
Brault had previously worked in a food bank in Portland while Baugh loaded up food from Costco twice a year for the benefit of his local organization .
Seeing the increased need at food banks across the region due to lingering economic challenges , the duo wanted to help Wilsonville Community Sharing — which runs the food bank in downtown Wilsonville . So they met with Charbonneau Country Club leaders to see what could be done .
“ The reason I had sought out Larry is that in food banks nationwide there was a demand for more and more assistance . We suspected that Wilsonville Community Sharing was probably having the same issues . We were able to confirm that ,” Brault said .
As a result , Charbonneau Country Club is hosting food drives to benefit

Leigh Crosby , a Wilsonville Community Sharing employee , said the Wilsonville food bank has served close to 1,100 families in the last year and has given out over 65,000 pounds of food .
The organization also helps recipients with utility and rent . The food bank is open 12:30-2:30 p . m . and 6-7:30 p . m . every Tuesday at the old high school on 29796 SW Town Center Loop East . She added that the location is indeed experiencing more demand than year ’ s past , saying that they ’ re about 100 more people seeking assistance .
“ All of the donations and food and money stays in Wilsonville and helps all of our local families or senior citizens . We have a lot of senior citizens . It helps keep your neighbors with food and to keep the lights on and helps them from getting evicted ,” Crosby said .
