WHAT IS IT?
HYPOXIA
An ocean dead zone, also called ocean Hypoxia, is a lack of oxygen in the ocean. This is caused by an increase in chemical nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen. These nutrients stimulate algal growth. Once the algae grows to a significant amount in one concentrated area then the algae starts to deoxygenate the water. This makes it so fish can't live there and will die because of the lack of oxygen.
