"Mike Metal" Mindnich – Originally from Short Hills, NJ,
Mike founded Deadtide after meeting Phil and vibing on
their similar tastes in metal and passion for writing catchy
riffs. At 13, Mike picked up a guitar and was playing and
singing old-school Metallica songs by age 14, fronting his first
band. After discovering melodic death metal and metalcore,
Mike taught himself how to perform various types of harsh
vocals before online video tutorials were even a thought. His
subsequent love for power metal and his ever-evolving loves
within other musical genres over the years inspired him to
grow as a singer. Mike's true passions are singing and writing profound, inspirational
songs that change the way his listeners view and understand the world and the
universe for the better — as well as encouraging their ability to live a life they love,
free of the fear and expectations imposed by society. Overflowing with creative ide-
as that also transcend the writing of infectious songs, some of his biggest goals are to
do something that influences music forever, to collaborate with other musicians to
make as much music as possible, and to deliver a unique experience for his audience.
Mike’s influences include In Flames, Soilwork, Killswitch Engage, Scar Symmetry,
Kamelot, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Thrice, and many more.
Phil “Chrome” Arnone – Originally from
Eastchester, NY, Phil began playing guitar at 13.
Despite having played the cello from 3rd grade all
through high school, the moment he picked up his
friend’s guitar, he was hooked. Phil was determined
to learn to play his favorite songs, and to create his
own. After discovering YouTube in 2006, Phil began
posting videos of his original guitar ideas, naming
the channel “ChromeCelica00,” after his silver 2000
Toyota Celica, which was accessorized with chrome parts. His YouTube channel now
has 25k+ subscribers and over 3 million views. One of Phil’s videos, an original
composition dedicated to Jesper Strömblad, was shared by Strömblad himself. Mike
came across Phil’s page and contacted Phil wanting to jam. After getting to know
each other, Phil and Mike became the founders of Deadtide. Phil’s influences are In
Flames, Soilwork, Blinded Colony, Dark Tranquillity, Scar Symmetry, Solution .45, As
I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Trivium, and many more.
