After seeing Lody Kong perform in Houston, The responses we have gotten from our listeners has been
incredible, we have seen first hand that there is a lot of love and respect globally for them. The guys
from Lody Kong have graciously allowed us a peek into their world, how they came to be and what is in
store for the future.
DDR: Can you tell us how Lody Kong formed, how you all met?
LK: Zyon, Shanks and myself were originally in a band prior to Lody Kong. When that disbanded, we began jamming as a three piece. Further down the road we decided we needed another guitar player. After a night of partying, John joined willingly and we were formed.
DDR: Who came up with the name Lody Kong?
LK: Zyon was the first one to say it out loud. He told me of the idea, and it seemed to click in my mind. Although, after that we attempted a number of other names, but nothing held through thick and thin. I have to give
this one to Zyon.
DDR: Could each of you tell us how you first became interested music and decided this is what you wanted to do.
Igor- As a kid I grew up into Thrash Metal. It sparked my ingenuity for Metal and hasn’t ceased to amaze me. As
the years went on, I progressed into speedy, angry punk rock, and not many people know, but I am a grind-core
maniac! If you take those kinds of music and add a guitar to my hands, I guess I always knew I wanted to make
music. I had faith that Metal would take me there.
Zyon- What first made me think of doing music forever is when my dad pulled me on stage randomly to play
“Refuse Resist.” From that moment on I knew I wanted to do it forever.
John- Watching my dad play guitar is what first got me interested in music. He showed me tons of music as well.
Then I really go into punk rock when I was young and ever since then I wanted to be that dude on stage, killing it
with my friends. Playing music for people, speaking our minds and rocking out. The power of what music can do
for somebody is what grabbed me. All these guys wrote all this great music that got me through life, so now I
want to make music in hopes of helping punk kids make it through the day and to get inspired to pick up an instrument and start their own shitty punk band.
Shanks- Well I have always been interested in music ever since I was young. I was first turned on to classic rock,
funk, and jazz by my parents. Then, once I met Igor he showed me the many other wonders of the musical world,
like punk, metal, grunge.
