Growing up in the visual and spiritual presence of Shrinathji artist Jai Khanna ’ s understanding of his God is an absolutely personal and experiential one . For him Shrinathji is not just The God as known to the world ; rather it is an image and a presence he has come to absorb as a part of his life and practice which also informs his artistic premise .
When I sat with Jai for conceptualising this exhibition I was spell bound by the supernal narration of his dreams and the depth on the subject which transported me on a journey unexplainable . A conversation that germinated into a concept inturn gave birth to the “ festival series ”( continued on page 27 )

Peacocks and parrots are welcoming him from the heaven and the birds in gulaal and gold form the background of this artwork where the Swaroop of shrinath ji is adorned in gold in bareek kalam expressing the “ bhavam of playfulness ” as that of a young “ Gwal ”.
