UNDERSTANDING VOIP PHONE
SERVICE
PC based Softphones
Today, there are PCs that are VoIP compliant; such PCs allow for the installation
of software programs that run as VoIP Softphones; this means you don’t need
any hardware. Once the software is installed on your system, they work just like
regular hardware phones with screen displays of soft button panels for you to
dial numbers whenever you want to make a call; but to make calls, your PC must
be connected to the internet as the VoIP service provider utilizes internet
telephony infrastructures for routing calls between Softphones (PC-to-PC); phone
to PC calls could also be made but most times, extra charges apply. To enhance
your call experience with PC Softphones, you would need quality headsets with
good recognition systems to provide you and the recipient at the other end crisp
audio.
Dedicated VoIP Phone
these phones are the replica of conventional cellular phones; you don’t need an
adapter or a computer; the phone connects directly with an IP network through
an Ethernet port, cable or Wi-Fi.
