SOGA —
During the Special Olympics of Georgia ( SOGA ) Kickoff Meeting for the Law Enforcement Torch Run , the Georgia Department of Community Supervision was named as the Department of the Year !
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest annual event benefiting
Special Olympics Georgia . The LETR involves more than 1,000 law enforcement officers from over 100 agencies who take part in a 1,000 mile , two-week torch relay to pass the Special Olympics Georgia “ Flame of Hope ” across the State .

Additionally , DCS also sends a sizable delegation each year to participate in the ‘ Polar Plunge ’ whereby brave men and women take a plunge into freezing waters to raise money and awareness for the incredible Special Olympians . The contribution and involvement helps athletes achieve their goals , live healthier lives , and have a sense of inclusion in the community .
