Research and Professional Contributions

Per statute established in Georgia House Bill 310 of 2015 , all DCS programming is required to be evidence-based and evaluated using metrics that are calibrated often to remain relevant with professional standards . With this mandate firmly embedded into our operational approach , the Department takes very seriously being at the forefront of the latest research impacting the community corrections profession . As a result , this propels our vision of being a national leader in community supervision allowing us to deliver meaningful results to the citizens of Georgia .
Moreover , the performance metrics , data sets , presentations , and reports such as this do not happen without strategy and careful execution . More importantly , they come about because of the dedicated officers and staff who are serving on the frontlines of the criminal justice system .
Professional Contributions
During Fiscal Year 2022 , DCS was fortunate to present several accounts of our progress before national and international associations . The Winter Institute of the American Probation and Parole Association was convened in Atlanta , Georgia and DCS served as one of the host agencies . With practitioners from across the spectrum of the profession present , DCS shined a bright light on Georgia ’ s leading role with the following presentations :.
