The Benefits of a Centralized Reporting Unit : Monitoring low risk cases and streamlining administrative functions once handled by Officers . Delivered by Pam Thrift , this workshop informed participants that with the creation of the CRU , low-level compliant cases were removed from field officers and placed in the Virtual Circuit . This change resulted in officers being allowed to focus on their high risk , high needs population .
Data Transparency in Community Supervision Over the last decade , the increasing demand for data transparency has changed how criminal justice agencies report their outcomes . This presentation demonstrated how DCS fulfilled the demand for data transparency via interactive dashboards . Attendees learned key processes such as understanding the agency needs as well as external stakeholders , potential challenges in incorporating multiple demands , and expediency to overcome those challenges .
Four Mindset Shifts Needed in Community Supervision In this workshop , Dr . Nick Powell fused firsthand experience as a Community Supervision Officer with criminal justice data to propose four urgently needed yet easily achievable mindset shifts that will foster the well-being of people with criminal records and build stronger communities . This workshop also explored the Department ’ s shift towards Person-Centered Supervision Model that enhances the supervisee ’ s voice in their supervision
Additionally , DCS was a proud attendee at the Corrections Technology Association . Our Chief Information Officer , Mr . Phil Sellers , discussed our Body Camera Initiative . DCS began our Body Camera Initiative ( BCI ) in 2015 as a way to ensure fidelity to the evidence-based principles found in our Enhanced Supervision Program .
