Bridle Ridge Horse Camp is a dream come true for owner Sheri
Spurlock-Barton. Together, Sheri and her husband Dave, have built a destination for equine enthusiasts to experience the beauty of the Black Hills that captured Sheri’ s heart as a young girl growing up in Kentucky.
Years later, with a spirit rooted in adventure and a significant shift from city life, Sherri turned her childhood dream into a reality.
After nearly three decades in Atlanta, Georgia, Sherri decided it was time for a change. She left the city life behind in 2017, purchased land in South Dakota, and set out to build a destination where fellow adventurers and equine enthusiasts could experience the beauty that had captured her imagination.
Her vision became Bridle Ridge Horse Camp and RV Park, which welcomed its first guest in June 2019.
“ It was truly a rewarding moment and very special day,” Sherri said.
Located just seven miles north of Custer and bordering the Black Hills National Forest, Bridle Ridge offers visitors the perfect combination of comfort, convenience and adventure. Just minutes from many of the areas most iconic attractions, including Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park, the camp serves as an ideal base for exploring one of South Dakota’ s most breathtaking landscapes.
Built on an enthusiasm for the outdoors, Bridle Ridge invites guests to immerse themselves in the allure of the Black Hills while providing a quality and comfortable experience.
Trail-heading over 100 miles of scenic riding trails, the camp offers direct access so riders can saddle up without ever having to load their horses into the trailer. The trail system accommodates riders of varying experience levels from leisurely rides through the low country to more challenging climbs into higher elevations. Along the way, guests enjoy views of the lush ponderosa pine, rugged outcroppings, stunning creek crossings and Black Hills wildlife such as deer, elk and coyotes.
