Gary installed automatic lights that come on when one steps into the master closet, and he also constructed a laundry chute that goes downstairs to the laundry room.
Gary also installed all the rock on the fireplace located upstairs in the living and dining area, and increased the size of the dining area while also opening it up as he did the living area. The rock fireplace burns wood, and the house also has a propane fireplace downstairs. The need for the propane is minimal— the couple say they haven’ t had to refill the 1,000 gallon propane tank in four years and it’ s still at 50 percent.
The kitchen has an island range, a small seating area for laptop work or just lounging, as well as custom drawers, cabinets, etc. Gary also replaced the flooring upstairs, installing luxury vinyl tile. There is a second bedroom upstairs, as well.
Downstairs is currently Gary’ s“ man cave” and the place to go to exercise. There is a bedroom downstairs, as well as a walkout area that is below the wraparound deck the couple installed upstairs to sit outside and watch wildlife, enjoy each other’ s company or even entertain if friends or family make the trek out their way.
The walkout area provides a way to be outside without being directly in the sun, and offers a look at some of the real logs Gary used while doing his renovations and additions.
The downstairs also has a half bath and is of course home to the laundry room and tool room, the latter of which leads out to the largest garage. The basement is carpeted in the living area and bedroom.
There is another small deck out back, and the house sits down below the land out back, which the Mcintires said is an advantage on windy days, as the wind travels right over the house.
If the beauty of the house isn’ t enough to convince you about the property’ s appeal, maybe the land will close the deal. A quick ride on a UTV leads you past a gun range a previous owner constructed that still stands, which is near both a deer stand and a seasonal pond that fills up as rain comes or snow melts and has been as deep as three feet, Gary said.
The home has a well and a cistern, and the modern convenience of fiber optics for those who want to either connect with the rest of the world or work from home.
The home has it all, feeling both modern and rustic, away from the hustle and bustle of the towns but close enough to both Hot Springs and Custer to be there in no time.
