Modern home, secluded setting

-If you’ re in the market for a beautifully remodeled home in a secluded part of Custer County, look no further than the home of Gary and Alice Mcintire.
Now listed for sale through Lewis Realty is the three bedroom, two bath home on two levels that Gary, a retired contractor, tore down to the studs and made into the open, spacious beauty it is today.
The home is about 2,600 square-feet and sits on 40 acres of pristine Black Hills land. For the prospective buyer who likes to play in the woods this home has it all, including from the moment you turn off Hwy. 89 south of Custer onto Ridge Road, at the end of which the home sits.
The drive to the home takes you through dense forest and to the top of the ridge that gives the road its name. It’ s also the first time you get a glimpse of the home, which is replete with three garages, an RV cover, a 30-amp RV hookup, an additional extra-large car cover and a tool room.
The Mcintires moved to Custer County from Gardnerville, Nev., which is located near Lake Tahoe. When COVID-19 hit and their small town suddenly became less small as people fled there from larger cities, the couple decided to move, and Alice has family in Rapid City and the two had also been to the area on vacation, of course.
Gary spent three years remodeling the home on and off, with one of the first orders of business tearing out a bevy of walls and opening up the entire house.
Open it up he did, particularly where the large living room is, as he built an addition over one of the garages he constructed and put in large windows that allow in plenty of natural light while also providing spectacular views of the Hills.“ Every inch of this house has been changed,” Gary said. There are two bedrooms upstairs, including the master bed and bathroom. The bathrooms have been remodeled, of course, and made larger with large walk-in showers, including dual rainfall-type shower heads in the master bathroom.
