Elsewhere, the construction firm Skanska has redesigned its safety vests to provide a
better fit and protection for its female workforce. Senior leaders at the company have
previously expressed frustration at having to supply female workers with equipment
designed for men, including gloves with overly long fingers and wide palms.
Through industry recognition for such senior women in construction, and with the growing
awareness of the changes needed to boost gender diversity in the industry, it is hoped
that the slow increase in female employment in construction begins to gather pace.
