Industry Award Celebrates Major Achievements of Women in Construction The construction industry has traditionally been a male-dominated workplace, and latest statistics show that things are not changing in a significant way, with women making up only 10% of the nation’s construction workforce in 2018. Figures from the state of New York reported a tiny increase in the female workforce of 3% between 2007 and 2017. But one woman in construction is bucking that trend, with her efforts due to be recognized at a prestigious awards ceremony next February. Debbie Danto is Chief Operating Officer at Fort Lauderdale-based Danto Builders and is being honored with a special award at the Black Dresses and Blueprints: Celebrating Women in Construction awards that are being held at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Fort Lauderdale, on Wednesday 6 February 2020.
