Skilled technicians at Bauer Auto Service
specialize in ‘everything under the hood’
Todd Bauer, owner and president of Bauer Auto
Service, Inc., started his company in the year 2000.
Over the past 19 years, he has built the company from
the ground up, making it one of the most desirable
places in town to have a vehicle serviced. Located in
Cold Spring, Minnesota, this family-owned business
specializes in everything under the hood, including:
tune-ups, brakes, exhaust, ignitions, tires, alignments
and diagnostics.
Todd is proud to have his company in Cold Spring,
the town in which he was raised.
“I enjoyed growing with the town, seeing it culti-
vate into what it is today. It’s a small town, but peo-
ple love and know each other. The town sure offers a
lot,” Todd said.
Bauer Auto Service, Inc. complements Cold
Spring’s congenial ambiance by offering superior
products at a neighborly cost.
Todd prides himself on his commitment to qual-
ity, beginning with his team of skilled technicians
and service writers. His son Josh, a technician, vol-
unteers himself to a handful of tasks on his father’s
to-do list by assisting in the daily management of the
shop. Mike Vogt, also a technician, has a passion for
all-things cars. Whether you have one question or 15,
he’s always willing to extend a helpful hand. Steve
Rogge, the service manager, assists with the phones
and daily check-ins and check-outs.
“Each of us has a versatile job. We each have the ca-
pability of working on a variety of makes and models
of vehicles. We can work on a Chevrolet, Mercedes,
Lexus, Audi — we work on them all, where not ev-
eryone else does that, and we get a lot of referrals
because of that. I like that I can go away for a week
and not have to worry about things not getting done.
My team gets things done and done correctly,” Todd
said.

tires, to overseeing finances, to chatting with custom-

ers, Todd has his hands in a little bit of everything.
Undoubtedly, Todd has a full schedule; however, this
doesn’t stop him from maintaining a clean and pre-
sentable shop that both his staff and customers are
proud to walk into.
Todd’s commitment to the shop is undeniable; he
has truly formed his business to reflect his values. A
prime example of this was when he purchased his late
grandfather’s home in 1996 — a brief walk from the
shop.
“Keeping this in the family was important to me,”
Todd said.
Along with his purchase came his grandfather’s
farm which borders the home. However, due to
Todd’s initial commitment to the shop, he rents the
farm to others who are in need of the land.
Todd credits the longevity and success of his busi-
ness to his team’s unprecedented communication and
customer service skills.
“Listening to our customer’s questions and con-
cerns — that’s our number one focus. Making sure
they understand everything we’re doing with their ve-
hicle, and letting them know what the prices are and
why, is pivotal to running an ongoing business,” Todd
said.
Above all, Todd loves being honest with his cus-
tomers, laughing a lot, giving personable service, and
fixing cars like he’d fix his own.
“Be truthful to your customers, be personable, and
treat them like they’re your own family. Never stop
working hard. Some weeks are great, some weeks are
like can anything else go wrong? Get up every morn-
ing and put 100 percent in. Treat people with respect;
it will be rewarded,” he said.
Unmistakably, owning a business is not about the
money, it’s about tailoring skills to fit the customer’s
needs.
“Any company you’re in will have circumstances
that can’t be controlled. For example, technology has
changed, but we do our best to keep up with that,
and it takes a lot to stay in this industry. At the same
time, we need small businesses like ours to keep prices
affordable,” Todd said.
He likes his team to stay competitive, so each year
they enroll in car clinics. Additionally, they register in
online training programs, such as AC Delco.
“I want our customers to trust us and know we’ll
give them the best service we can,” Todd said.
