Honorable Minister of Defense of Cyprus , Honorable Chief of the National Guard of Cyprus , Distinguished Participants , Ladies and Gentlemen ,
It ’ s an honor for me to participate in CYPSEC 2023 , a very important and highly appreciated Defense and Security Conference .
I would like first of all to thank Mr . Vasilis Zomenos for his kind invitation on behalf of SEKPY , the Hellenic Defense Manufacturers Association .
With almost 200 member companies , SEKPY promotes the interests of Hellenic Defense Industry since 1982 and strongly supports the synergies between the Greek , European , Israeli and US Defense Industries . I am happy to see in the room many colleagues with whom we participated in DEFEA 2023 , last week in Athens . The significant success of DEFEA 2023 proves amongst other , the increased importance of South East Mediterranean Region Defense and Security issues .
The aim of the conference is to present the capabilities of the most modern defense technology to the new Cypriot Authorities and also to promote synergies between defense players through the exchange of knowledge and cooperation .
The Russian invasion in Ukraine last year has made clear the need for Europe to support its Defense capabilities in order to be able to protect its Democratic Values . And the best way to do so , is by supporting its Defense Industry .
