Commodore H.N. Anastasios Tserkezoglou Commandant, Nato Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Center Commodore Anastasios Tserkezoglou was born in the city of Athens on May 6th, 1963. He entered the Hellenic Naval Academy in September 1981 and was commissioned as Ensign in June 1985. Record of billets, training and specialized courses His specialties are Helicopter Pilot and Navigation Officer. He attended the basic training course of the Hellenic Army’s Helicopter School in ΄89 and the Aviation Safety Officer’s Course in Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, USA in ΄98. He also attended the Staff Officers Course on ΄89 and ΄97 and graduated from the Hellenic Navy War College in 2003. Sea fare - Warfare Officer Career He served on several types of warships (frigates, training ships) as Navigation and Operations Officer. He was assigned as Commanding Officer on the HS ERMIS (E.W. Ship) from 1998 to 1999 and on the HS ADRIAS (FG Type Standard) from 2006 to 2008. Navy Aviator Career From 1989 to 2011 he served in the Hellenic Navy's Helicopter Command at several posts being a pilot at helicopters AB-212 and SH-70. From March 2010 till July 2011 he was assigned as Commanding Officer of the Hellenic Navy's Helicopter Command. Other Duties - Staff Officer Career From July 2000 to January 2003 he served in the Hellenic Navy’s Helicopter Squadron as Commanding Officer. After his graduation from the Naval War College he was assigned duties of J7 TLX Staff Officer in SHAPE (Supreme HQ Allied Forces in Europe) in Mons, Belgium from 2003 to 2006. In 2006 for three months and in 2008 for nine months he served as Chief of Staff in Hellenic Navy's Helicopter Command. In July 2011 and for two years he was the Naval Attaché of the Embassy of Greece in London/UK. Being promoted at the rank of Commodore on 2014 he was assigned for one year till March 2015 as Head Ops Directorate in the Hellenic National Defence General Staff. He has been assigned as Commandant of the NMIOTC on the 26th of March 2015. Decorations and Medals He bears the Knight’s Golden Cross of the Order of the Phoenix battalion, the Military Merit A’ Class, the Successful Command A’ Class medals and the Knight’s Golden Cross of the Order of Honor battalion. He has also been decorated with the Peacekeeping Operations medal of the United Nations twice. Commodore HN Anastasios Tserkezoglou speaks English. He is married, father of three children.
