Automotive Aftermarket Repair Process. Panel Bonding 1 Remove all paint, rust and contamination from surfaces to be bonded using 3M ™ Roloc ™ Bristle or Clean and Strip ™ Discs. Straighten all metal, clamp the part in place and check for fit alignment. 4 Apply adhesive bead on all areas to be bonded (all bare metal surfaces). 7 Spray 3M ™ Weld Thru ll Coating (50410) to all areas to be welded. Clamp the panel in its proper position. 12 2 3 Clean all areas to be bonded with 3M ™ General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (08984). 5 Place duo pack cartridge with adhesive in applicator. Unscrew adhesive cap and dispense enough to equalise the adhesive. Attach and lock the mixing nozzle to the duo pack cartridge. 6 Apply primer according to paint company recommendations to repairs, keeping spray area to a minimum and avoiding hard edges. Dry to paint company recommendation. 8 Apply additional adhesive bead to either the replacement panel or the inner structure. 9 Tool out any ‘squeezed out’ adhesive to seal the outside of the seam all along the bonded edge of the panel.
