CYBER LOVE April 6, 2014 | Page 3

Cons

1. You never know who is behind the profile- Sad to say, but some people find enjoyment out of deceiving others, so users need to be wary.

2. Missing out in the traditional dating process- Classic scenarios of meeting someone, going out and connecting with him or her in real life are altered or voided.

3. Disapproval- Chances are that family and friends will see your online relationship as something “not real” because of its cyber context. Not everyone understands the appeal.

4. It can be addictive- For some, finding a date or spending time with their partner may mean many hours spent online, away from the actual-world.

5. Costly- If you are not using free dating websites/apps, it can be pricy to maintain a membership

6. 40 million singles in the U.S. alone have tried online dating- There are so many people in the cyber-world that sorting through potential candidates and interests can be a daunting and tiring process.
