BUILD FIFTY5- THE LAMP WORKS
Build Fifty5 is delivering The Lampworks in Birmingham’ s Jewellery Quarter, transforming a former industrial site into a landmark build-to-rent development that combines contemporary homes with the area’ s rich manufacturing heritage.
Construction is progressing at The Lampworks, a mixed-use residential development that forms a key part of the ongoing regeneration of Great Hampton Street in Birmingham’ s Jewellery Quarter. Appointed as construction manager and delivery partner, Build Fifty5 is leading the delivery of Cordia UK’ s first purposebuilt build-to-rent development in the city, working in partnership with Pedrano UK.
Located at the junction of Great Hampton Street and Harford Street, the development occupies the site of a former brass foundry and furniture factory. Rather than overlooking the location’ s industrial past, the project has been designed to celebrate it, incorporating retained structural steel elements alongside contemporary architecture to create a building that reflects the character of the Jewellery Quarter while meeting the expectations of modern city living.
When complete, The Lampworks will comprise 148 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and duplexes together with three ground-floor commercial units. The homes will be arranged around a series of landscaped courtyards, providing shared outdoor space within a development designed to encourage interaction between residents and create a strong sense of community.
The project has been conceived around the principles of build-to-rent living, placing as much emphasis on shared amenities as on the apartments themselves. Residents will benefit from dedicated co-working space, private meeting rooms, a communal lounge and a shared kitchen and dining area, reflecting changing patterns of work and lifestyle in city centre developments.
