THE BROADGATE TOWER- EXTENSION & REFURBISHMENT
A new industrial development at Blackthorne Crescent is bringing together speculative logistics space and a bespoke headquarters for Worldwide Flight Services, creating a strategically important commercial hub just minutes from Heathrow Airport.
Rather than delivering another speculative warehouse scheme, Tritax has adopted a dual approach at Blackthorne Crescent in Poyle, combining flexible industrial accommodation with a purpose-built operational facility for one of the world’ s largest air cargo specialists. The result is a development that responds both to immediate occupier demand and the long-term importance of Heathrow as the UK’ s busiest international freight gateway.
Located within the established Blackthorne Crescent Industrial Estate, the site occupies a prime position close to Junction 14 of the M25 and Heathrow Airport’ s cargo terminals. Few industrial locations in the country offer the same combination of motorway connectivity and direct access to global air freight infrastructure, making Poyle one of the UK’ s most sought-after logistics markets for operators involved in distribution, aviation services and international supply chains.
The development is being delivered for Tritax, with PRC Architecture and Planning Ltd responsible for the architectural design and Magrock Limited appointed as main contractor.
Together, the project team is creating modern industrial accommodation designed to support businesses whose operations depend upon speed, resilience and efficient access to national and international transport networks.
At the heart of the scheme is a purpose-built facility for Worldwide Flight Services( WFS). Under a build-to-suit agreement with Tritax London Logistics Fund, WFS will relocate its UK headquarters and operational functions into premises specifically designed around its business requirements. As one of the world’ s leading providers of airport ground handling and cargo handling services, the company required accommodation capable of supporting both office operations and specialist logistics activities while remaining close to Heathrow’ s freight infrastructure. The bespoke agreement ensures those operational requirements have been embedded within the building from the earliest stages of design.
Alongside the WFS headquarters, the project also delivers speculative industrial space aimed at a market where demand for modern logistics accommodation continues
